This opportunity is ideal for individuals interested in contributing as a Lead Frontend Engineer (AVP) within State Street’s Global Technology Services (GTS) organization. Role Overview

We are   seeking   a highly experienced Lead Frontend Engineer with deep   expertise   in Single Page Application (SPA) development using React and TypeScript, combined with strong capabilities in platform engineering, DevOps, and AI-driven development practices. This role blends hands-on engineering, architectural guidance, and platform ownership, with a clear emphasis on:

- 50% SPA / Frontend Engineering

- 50% DevOps, Deployment Automation, and AI-driven Engineering

You will play a key role in standardizing frontend practices, improving developer productivity, and driving adoption of scalable UI platforms and reusable components across the enterprise. The position requires close collaboration with engineering, design, DevOps, and enterprise teams.

Key Responsibilities

You will drive frontend excellence across architecture, development, and platform enablement:

- Design and build scalable React + TypeScript applications and shared libraries

- Define best practices for   component   architecture, performance, and accessibility

- Lead   monorepo /multi-repo strategies and frontend ecosystem setup

- Own internal platforms end-to-end (design, build, deploy,   maintain )

- Improve developer productivity through CI/CD automation and modern tooling

- Integrate quality, security, and compliance tools (SonarQube, Veracode, Black Duck)

- Establish governance for AI-generated code and secure development practices

- Mentor teams on modern frontend, DevOps, and AI capabilities

- Identify   and address technical debt and modernization initiatives

- Define SOPs and support enterprise-wide developer enablement

- Collaborate with DevOps, Ops, and IT teams for tooling, onboarding, and compliance

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

You will actively contribute to development and cross-team collaboration:

- Translate Figma designs into responsive UI using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

- Build and   maintain   React-based frontend applications (Angular/Vue optional)

- Collaborate with designers and backend teams for seamless user experience

- Contribute to design systems and   component   libraries

- Ensure accessibility compliance (WCAG/EAA)

- Perform testing, debugging, and iterative improvements

- Optimize   performance for data-intensive applications

- Stay current with frontend trends and emerging technologies

Technical Requirements

Core Skills

Strong   expertise   in:

- React.js, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, JavaScript

- Modern build tools (Vite, Webpack)

- Component   libraries and design systems

Engineering Capabilities

- Experience building scalable frontend platforms and ecosystems

- Performance optimization for large-scale and data-heavy applications

- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and ownership mindset

Experience & Traits

- 8+ years of relevant experience

- Strong communication   and cross-team collaboration skills

- Proactive, action-oriented, and adaptable mindset

- Continuous learning orientation with interest in innovation and emerging technologies

Nice-to-Have

- Exposure to financial services or enterprise platforms

- Frontend certifications (Google, W3C,   Codecademy )

- Experience with AI-assisted development tools

- Certification in cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)

- Experience in cloud-native application development

- Experience with frontend observability and tooling (metrics, logging, performance monitoring)

Technical Leadership & Growth Expectations

You will act as a thought leader and mentor, guiding teams in adopting modern frontend, DevOps, and AI-driven practices. You will help build a strong engineering culture focused on quality, reusability, scalability, and continuous improvement, while driving innovation across the   frontend   platform ecosystem.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $167,500 Annual The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
