Job description

The Autonomy Research Engineer 2 conducts collaborative research, data analyses and software engineering, under the supervision of a project or task lead, supporting a group’s research and development objectives. Mission autonomy is the ability for autonomous agents or teams to conduct strategic decision-making and coordinated actions toward longer-term operational objectives through persistent world modeling, predictive simulation, and adaptive planning under uncertainty and adversarial conditions.

Essential Functions:   - Conduct assigned and/or collaborative research, data analyses and/or software engineering activities as directed, that support technical and program objectives.  - Support the group’s business development activities by developing technical proposal content, supporting data analyses and/or software engineering, as needed, under the guidance of a proposal technical lead.   - Document and communicate technical results, data analyses, key findings, and takeaway   conclusions of research and development activities to internal audiences.   - Contribute to publications as needed.  - This role requires the Ability to sit or stand at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.  - May require the ability to push/pull/lift up to 15 pounds. - Must be able to Obtain and maintain an active US DOD security clearance.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:   - Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or similar educational background, or equivalent experience and 3+ years of experience in related industry experience or Masters Degree and 1+ years of experience in a related field.  - Advanced experience in research software development with relevant programming skills in MATLAB/C++/Python.  - Experience with AI/ML/Autonomy software libraries.  - Experience with simulation, development and deployment environments.

Preferred Additional Skills and Experience:   - Master’s of Science degree  - Experience with sensors and/or autonomous vehicles.  - Ability to identify, analyze, and creatively solve complex problems  - Ability to execute logical reasoning and decision-making skills  - Excellent verbal and written communication skills including technical writing experience  - Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail  - Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
