Requirements

A vacancy has arisen for a Junior Legal Counsel in Cape Town

The Junior Legal Counsel supports the Senior In-House Counsel SSA in managing all legal matters for Rentokil Initial's Sub-Saharan Africa business (South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania).

Key Outputs and Accountability - Support the role of the Senior In-House Counsel SSA for all legal matters arising from Rentokil Initial Sub Sahara business (South Africa, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania). - Assist the Senior Legal Counsel in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating standard commercial contracts, procurement and supply agreements. - Independently review non-standard contractual terms, addendums, and high-value customer variations, ensuring alignment with Group policies and the corporate authority matrix. - Provide pro -active legal advice, support and engage all business units in respect of potential litigation, legal disputes to safeguard company interests. - Liaising with the Senior In-House Counsel to handle strategic and administrative initiatives including developing and delivering training across all SSA regions. - Provide functional guidance to the junior team members. - Conduct mandated regular review of agreement templates, precedents, and legal review processes. - Assist in identifying legal and contractual risks arising from daily operations and ensure adherence to company policies (Insurance Claims, Health and Safety). - Evaluate and resolve complex legal queries and contract review requests escalated by the Legal Support Administrator and business units within SLA timeframes. - Gather and consolidate key legal information to prepare updates to the executive committee on a quarterly basis.

Stakeholder management - Managing correspondence and communication with internal staff and customers. - Gain trust & confidence from stakeholders around performance delivery. - Develop good relationships with all business and external stakeholders such as Key Account Directors and Key Account managers

SKILLS (Essential) - General understanding of commercial terms and conditions and experience in contract management. Strong background in commercial administration/document control role - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues. - Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy - Proficiency in legal terminology - Excellent written skills including Word/Excel - Very organised and structure - Handling legal documents - Credible stakeholder management ability - Proactive, responsive and action orientated - Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to collaborate with others

Qualifications and Experience - LLB or BA LLB Degree - Admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa - A minimum of one year of professional experience in a legal advisory capacity focusing on commercial contract management is preferred, though not strictly required.
