Job description

The Transportation Supervisor leads day-to-day transportation operations within a distribution center, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of products. This role supervises drivers, manages fleet readiness, and coordinates daily execution to meet operational goals while maintaining regulatory compliance and high service standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Supervise daily transportation operations, including routing, departures, deliveries, and driver execution. - Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and workload distribution to ensure efficient operations and on-time delivery. - Lead transportation team members, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance management. - Set expectations, monitor performance, and provide feedback to ensure team effectiveness and accountability. - Ensure full compliance with DOT regulations, including FMCSR, hazardous materials requirements, and ELD usage. - Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and O’Reilly transportation policies and procedures. - Assist Transportation Manager with overseeing fleet readiness, maintenance, inspections, and service schedules to meet O’Reilly standards. - Identify and address safety risks, conduct safety meetings, and promote a strong safety culture. - Monitor daily departures and develop plans to meet scheduled delivery timelines. - Coordinate special deliveries and pickups with various departments to support operational needs. - Communicate driver staffing and fleet requirements to ensure appropriate coverage and capacity. - Maintain and submit accurate reports related to fleet performance, compliance, and operational metrics. - Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying opportunities for improvement. - Support process improvements to enhance delivery efficiency, service levels, and operational consistency. - Maintain strong communication with transportation team members and build a positive, professional work environment. - Provide ongoing support to team members to ensure clarity of expectations and alignment with O’Reilly goals. - Support additional initiatives and operational needs as directed by leadership.

SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required: - High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR). - Familiarity with hazardous materials transportation regulations, North American - Standard Out of Service (OOS) criteria, and electronic logging devices (ELDs). - Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. - Strong knowledge of transportation operations, routing, and delivery schedules. - Ability to supervise daily operations and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. - Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. - Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the distribution center. - Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. - Ability to adapt to new systems, tools, and operational processes. - Ability to work collaboratively while maintaining accountability for team performance.

Desired: - 1+ year of experience in fleet or transportation operations. - Experience working in a distribution center environment. - Experience with routing, delivery scheduling, or fleet coordination. - Experience with AS400 or similar systems. - Proficiency in one or more additional languages.
