The Group Manager, Strategic Marketing is responsible for leading upstream marketing strategy and customer insight generation to guide product development and portfolio strategy. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical rigor with deep curiosity about physician and patient needs and has experience navigating the medical device product lifecycle from concept through commercialization.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES - Portfolio strategy & Product roadmap - Contribute to portfolio strategy, identifying growth opportunities, emerging technologies, and competitive dynamics - Guide the product roadmap, prioritizing near-, mid-, and long-term initiatives in line with business goals, development and regulatory timelines, and resource capacity - Market & Customer insights - Lead voice-of-customer research to identify unmet clinical needs and translate into product requirements - Gather voice-of-customer insights from the market and funnel learnings back to cross-functional leadership team - Product development & KOL engagement - Provide strategic oversight for product development programs from concept through commercialization phases, ensuring development in alignment with market and customer needs - Build and manage relationships with KOLs and coordinate advisory boards to validate product concepts and gather ongoing clinical feedback - Product launch planning - Oversee launch planning, collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure robust commercialization - Collaborate closely with Commercial Marketing to ensure a smooth handoff of positioning, messaging foundations, and customer insights ahead of commercial launch - Competitive & Market intelligence - Lead competitive and market intelligence efforts, anticipating future threats and proactively adjusting strategy to improve market penetration and positioning - Track product, procedural, and reimbursement trends across the therapeutic area, synthesizing findings into insights that inform strategic decisions - Market modeling & Business case planning - Lead market modeling to guide revenue projections and franchise investment strategies
Required: - Minimum 8 years of strategic marketing experience in medical devices, diagnostics, or a related healthcare field - Direct experience conducting voice-of-customer research with physicians and clinical staff, ideally within interventional, surgical, or procedural device markets - Demonstrated success in using customer insights to inform product innovation, with working knowledge of medical device product development process and FDA/regulatory guidelines - Exceptional analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to build robust market models and transform complex datasets into executive-level strategic directives - Record of successful talent development through direct or indirect reporting relationships - Proficiency in productivity applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, Slack - Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills - Adept at data-driven marketing and decision making
Preferred: - Engineering degree and prior medical device product development experience - MBA or advanced degree in life sciences, marketing, or related discipline - Record of successful talent development with direct reports - Experience with Class II/III medical devices - Project management experience and/or formal training in design thinking methodologies - Familiarity with AI tools for productivity and marketing/project management automation - Background in a specific therapeutic area or procedure relevant to our portfolio (e.g., cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, thrombectomy)

Compensation Range
$150,000 — $205,000 USD
