The Role
The Purchasing Coordinator is a key member of the Purchasing team, and a member of the larger Finance Corporate Support Group. In this role, the Purchasing Coordinator increases and enhances the effectiveness of the Purchasing team in meeting their responsibility to serve their customers. This person will provide general data entry/administrative support to the Purchasing Supervisor and Purchasing Buyers by performing various administrative and accounting tasks to expedite the flow of information and paperwork to support Purchasing functions and efforts. This position is hybrid- After in-office training period, three in-office days per week in our Kent, WA office and two remote days per week, at manager’s discretion.
Key Responsibilities - Assist with the creation, filing, and distribution of purchase orders. - Data entry of purchasing information into the ERP system while ensuring that the information entered is accurate to avoid any discrepancies. - Partner with Accounts Payable to resolve errors preventing invoice entry. - In conjunction with the Purchasing team, strive to improve purchasing procedures. - Assist in ensuring Hermanson’s Purchasing procedures are followed. - Research and update commodity pricing data. - Research pricing and unique material. - Acquire and organize product data. - Other duties as assigned.
The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000. (The compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience).
Accountabilities & KPIs - Ensuring commitments are entered and up to date with high degree of accuracy
Key Meetings to Attend - Purchasing department meeting - Monthly Purchasing/Accounts Payable Sync meeting - Quarterly finance department meeting - Other meetings as needed
Qualifications - Intermediate PC skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, including alpha numeric keyboarding skills with minimal errors - Ability to learn and perform tasks within ERP accounting software - Must have strong organizational skills, excellent planning, communication, and team skills - Must be able to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously with the ability to prioritize - Basic knowledge of accounting and the functioning of an accounting department - Previous construction industry experience a plus - Ability to read and understand general business letters - Ability to communicate effectively, present information, and respond to questions from managers, internal and external customers, and the general public - Ability to draft professional routine reports and correspondence - Positive, customer service-focused attitude - Ability to learn new concepts quickly - Inquisitive nature- not afraid to ask questions, general interest in the construction industry - Coachable, willing to take on new assignments, and suggest ways to improve - Ability to apply their administrative skills and troubleshoot problems within scope of responsibility
Education: - High school diploma or GED, (AA degree preferred) plus 2 years administrative experience (purchasing/procurement or accounting focus preferred); or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
