Greywright is hiring a Software Engineer to help build out and improve on ground control systems and the software running on our autonomous vehicles. You will develop features operators use to plan, monitor, and command missions, and implement vehicle-side features defined by our GNC, autonomy, networks, and systems teams.
You will work closely with senior engineers, own features end to end, and see your code run on real vehicles in the field.
Requirements
What you'll do - Develop features for Greywright's ground control software, including mission planning, telemetry display, vehicle commands, and operator interfaces. - Implement vehicle-side system software features to requirements set by the GNC, autonomy, networks, electrical, and systems teams. - Maintain and improve communication between ground control and vehicles, including telemetry, commands, and logging. - Write clean, well-tested code in C++ and Python, and take part in code and design reviews. - Expand tests and tooling, including simulation and hardware-in-the-loop setups. - Support integration and field testing, and help debug issues on real vehicles. - Write and maintain clear documentation for the features you build.
What you bring - B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. - 3+ years of professional software engineering experience. - Proficiency in C++ and Python. - Experience developing on Linux. - Understanding of networking and messaging between distributed systems (e.g., TCP/UDP, DDS, ROS 2, Protobuf). - Interest in robotics, autonomy, or defense systems, and eagerness to work close to hardware. - Strong debugging skills and a habit of writing tested, maintainable code. - Comfort ramping up quickly in an existing codebase. - Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time when needed. - This role requires access to ITAR/EAR-controlled data; U.S. person status is required as defined by 22 CFR 120.62.
Nice to have - Experience with ground control or robotics software (e.g., QGroundControl, ATAK, ROS 2, MAVLink). - Experience with Rust, TypeScript, or front-end frameworks for operator interfaces (e.g., React, Qt). - Experience with simulation tools (e.g., Gazebo) or hardware-in-the-loop testing. - Exposure to embedded or real-time systems. - Background with maritime or uncrewed vehicles. - Eligibility to obtain a U.S. Secret or higher security clearance; an active clearance is not required.
Benefits - Meaningful early-stage equity. - Great health, dental, and vision insurance. - Unlimited vacation.
