The Associate Systems Engineer supports the design, implementation, integration, and maintenance of enterprise network infrastructure across client environments. Working closely with Systems Engineers and project teams, this role performs hands-on installation and configuration of wired and wireless network technologies, security surveillance technologies, rack-and-stack activities, cabling, and technical documentation.

The position requires a combination of technical knowledge, field experience, attention to detail, and strong communication skills. The Associate Systems Engineer will also coordinate with third-party vendors and support end-user technology integration.

Travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City and reporting to the Long Island Headquarters js required.

Employees should expect to work both in the field and at the office based on project and operational requirements

Salary: $60,000 - $65,000

Work Schedule

The standard work schedule for this position is 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM to support project implementation and operational requirements. During school breaks, summer months, or as required to support business operations and project needs, the work schedule will transition to  9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Employees are expected to maintain a flexible work schedule and may be required to work adjusted hours based on project timelines, construction schedules, maintenance windows, emergency response, or other business and operational requirements.

What You'll Do: - Install and perform rack-and-stack activities for network equipment across various environments, including active construction and new construction sites. - Patch, cable, label, and organize network devices in accordance with approved network designs. - Assist with installation, configuration of Cisco and Cisco Meraki network technologies, including switches, firewalls, and wireless access points. - Conduct pre- and post-implementation site assessments and accurately document network environments, equipment, configurations, and completed work. - Maintain detailed project documentation, including client sign-off, punch lists, equipment information, implementation records, and issue resolutions. - Proactively identify, communicate, and escalate technical or project-related issues in a timely and professional manner. - Coordinate and manage third-party vendors, including delivery, security, and other project vendors, to support timely and accurate project execution. - Provide post-installation support and assist end users with newly deployed technologies, including training on camera and surveillance systems when required. - Perform other job-related duties and support additional technology projects as assigned.

What Your Bring: - Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with network infrastructure installation, integration, troubleshooting, and technical documentation. - Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle. - Ability to work in active construction and new construction environments while performing site surveys, installations, testing, and other network infrastructure activities. - Ability to lift 10 pounds or more and transport equipment and safely use ladders when required. - Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols, including TCP/IP, switching, routing, VLANs, wireless networking, and related technologies. - Hands-on experience supporting LAN and WLAN environments. - Knowledge of Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber-optic cabling standards, cable types, connectivity, and termination methods. - Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Cisco and Cisco Meraki technologies, including switches, Cisco ASA, Firepower, and Meraki firewalls - Experience performing Cisco IOS and network device firmware upgrades and downgrades. - Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, network diagrams, floor plans, and infrastructure documentation. - Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to identify and escalate complex technical issues appropriately. - Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately document network configurations, installations, changes, and project activities. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple project responsibilities. - Ability to work independently in the field while also collaborating effectively with engineers, project managers, vendors, and other team members.

Preferred - CCNA certification strongly preferred, with demonstrated interest in continued Cisco networking education and professional development. - Previous networking or technology project experience within NYC DOE school buildings or administrative office environments. - Familiarity with NYC DOE and SCA network infrastructure standards and project requirements. - Hands-on experience with video surveillance projects and technologies. - Experience with Genetec Omnicast, Genetec Security Center, or similar enterprise video surveillance platforms.
