Job description

We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of commercial electrical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This position will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, field teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and general contractors to keep projects organized, on schedule, and moving forward.

This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional looking to build a long-term career in commercial electrical construction , with hands-on mentorship and a defined path toward Assistant Project Manager and Project Manager positions.

Projects include healthcare, higher education, institutional, manufacturing, industrial, and other complex commercial facilities.

Responsibilities - Support Project Managers with the planning and execution of commercial electrical projects from start to finish. - Prepare, track, and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, transmittals, procurement logs, and project documentation. - Review electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and scopes of work. - Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and general contractors. - Track material procurement, equipment deliveries, long-lead items, and project milestones. - Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, billing, and financial reporting. - Participate in project meetings, site visits, coordination meetings, and progress reviews. - Work with estimating and BIM/VDC teams to support constructability, coordination, and installation planning. - Maintain organized project files, meeting minutes, correspondence, and document control. - Assist with material takeoffs, procurement planning, commissioning, logistics, and project closeout. - Help identify and resolve scheduling, procurement, documentation, and field coordination issues. - Support compliance with project specifications, contractual requirements, company standards, and safety objectives.

Requirements - 2+ years of experience in commercial construction, project engineering, or electrical construction. - Experience with a commercial electrical contractor or specialty electrical subcontractor is preferred. - Working knowledge of commercial electrical systems, installation methods, sequencing, and field operations. - Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, scheduling, and construction documentation. - Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms. - Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills. - Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment. - Willingness to travel to project sites throughout the Detroit metropolitan area. - Experience with healthcare, higher education, institutional, manufacturing, industrial, or other complex commercial projects is a plus.
