What You'll Do
The Used Buyer is responsible for evaluating and purchasing used photography, video, and electronics equipment acquired directly from customers. This role builds relationships with customers over the phone and via email, assesses equipment values, negotiates purchase prices, and delivers a seamless selling experience.
Key Responsibilities: - Evaluate used photography, video, and electronics equipment for trade-in or direct purchase - Negotiate purchase price with customers while maintaining margin standards - Determine resale values based on inventory levels, item age, demand trends, and condition - Limit overstock exposure on slow-moving SKUs - Complete purchase transactions and required documentation accurately - Provide knowledgeable, customer-friendly service by phone, and via email - Support used sales efforts by assisting customers with product recommendations - Respond promptly to customers throughout the evaluation and purchase process, ensuring a timely and professional experience. - Understand each customer's needs and provide education on equipment value, market conditions, and available selling options. - Leverage market knowledge and customer needs to maximize conversion of trade-in and purchase opportunities. - Responsibilities may evolve over time; employees may be asked to take on additional duties as needed to support business priorities.
What Will Help You Thrive - Experience developing and managing production budgets - Strong knowledge of new and used photography and video equipment, including market values and pricing - Ability to quickly and accurately assess equipment condition and market value - Confident negotiation and customer communication skills - Comfort working in a fast-paced retail environment - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills - 2–3+ years of experience evaluating or selling photo/video equipment - Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple customer transactions. - Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically when evaluating equipment and purchase opportunities. - Highly responsive with strong follow-through and a commitment to delivering an excellent customer experience.
This role requires five on-site days weekly to ensure in-person collaboration, improved communication, effective teamwork, and real-time problem solving to enhance team synergy and productivity. A standard 40 hour work week is expected.
