Description:
We are seeking a talented individual to join our Controllership - Revenue Recognition team at Marsh . This role will be based in Urbandale, IA and offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.
As a Staff Accountant I on the Revenue Recognition team, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of accounting reports while partnering with stakeholders across the business to support key accounting activities. You’ll analyze financial data, review reconciliations and revenue transactions, and identify opportunities to improve processes and controls. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and making a meaningful impact through continuous improvement.
We will count on you to:
- Prepare, review and analyze various accounting reports including variances, billing, and other statements; may ensure timely and accurate processing
- Assist with the development, implementation and documentation of internal and external accounting and operating policies, procedures and process improvements for general accounting functions
- Address inquiries from stakeholders across multiple lines of business
- Partner with team members to develop process efficiencies
- Perform reconciliation reviews
- Interact with various internal stakeholders including Controllers & Financial Planning
- Review system enhancements and upgrades to understand their function
- Review documentation for proper revenue recognition criteria
- Complete quality assurance reviews on fee and commission revenue for proper accounting treatment
What you need to have:
- Associate’s degree in finance or accounting
- Proficient with MS Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Prior experience with internal controls or auditing
- Experience with Oracle
