Job description

Core Responsibilities

- Inventory Management: Monitoring stock levels, setting reorder points, and ensuring the parts department maintains a profitable balance of fast-moving parts while avoiding dead stock (obsolescence).

- Vendor & Supply Chain Management: Sourcing parts, negotiating pricing with OEMs and aftermarket suppliers, and handling returns or core charges.

- Interdepartmental Coordination: Working closely with service departments and sales to match parts to repair jobs and maintain a productive turnaround time.

- Order Processing: Overseeing daily ordering, special orders for customers, and warranty claims.

- Team Leadership: Training parts counter staff, hiring, and ensuring safety and efficiency in the warehouse.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) A successful manager relies on data to track performance:

- Fill Rate: The percentage of part requests fulfilled immediately from on-hand inventory

- Days on hand calculation

- Turnover Rate: How many times the entire inventory is sold and replaced over a year.

- Days Sales Outstanding (DSO): Tracking how long it takes to collect payments for wholesale and commercial accounts.

- Obsolescence: The financial cost of parts that remain unsold for extended periods.

Professional Experience

- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in automotive spare parts operations, inventory management, or parts distribution.

- Previous supervisory or management experience within an automotive dealership, aftermarket supplier, or manufacturing environment.

- Proven track record of managing parts inventory, procurement, and customer service activities.

Technical Knowledge

- Strong understanding of automotive components, spare parts identification, and vehicle systems.

- Knowledge of inventory control methods, stock optimization, and warehouse management processes.

- Familiarity with ERP systems, parts catalogues, and automotive supply chain operations.

- SAP system
